This stunning engagement ring is a unique piece of history, set with an Old European Cut Diamond to the centre in a square frame secured with four claws. Complete with it's original red leather box, the ring is also extremely rare in that it also still has it's original receipt from 1941. Purchased during WWII, this gorgeous ring would have brought such a glimmer of joy during such a tough time, maybe it was a promise of love from a called up soldier before going away to war.
Made in 18ct Yellow Gold with a Platinum setting and shoulders. Stamped to the band.
The ring, original box and receipt are from W. Battersby Goldsmiths in Cheapside, London who were established in 1802. The original receipt includes a description of the ring and it's purchase price of £21!
The central Old European Cut Diamond has been calculated in the setting as weighing approximately 0.60 Carat. SI1 Clarity and H-I Colour. A stunning diamond which catches the light beautifully with its chunky facets and unique sparkle.
